The Polkadot Ledger App has been updated with Gen5 support, a modern NBGL UI, clearer asset transaction displays, and improved signing reliability. The new version is already available to install via Ledger Live

The Polkadot Ledger App has received a series of updates focused on improving device compatibility, transaction clarity, and overall usability. These changes build on previous releases and ensure a smoother experience across modern Ledger hardware.
Ledger Gen5 support with a modern NBGL-based user interface
Improved transaction display for clearer and more accurate signing information
Explicit raw amount labeling for asset transfers when metadata is unavailable
ECDSA signing fixes for large transactions
The application now fully supports Ledger Gen5 devices and has transitioned to NBGL, Ledger’s modern user interface framework. This provides a consistent and intuitive signing experience across next-generation Ledger devices, while improving readability and interaction flow.
A key area of improvement in this update is transaction display, particularly when signing extrinsics from the Assets pallet.
Due to current metadata constraints, Ledger devices do not receive asset-specific decimals or symbols for non-native assets. This previously resulted in transfers being displayed using the native DOT denomination, which could be misleading.
To address this transparently and safely, the app now explicitly displays raw asset amounts, clearly labeled to indicate that the value is shown without asset-level resolution. This approach avoids incorrect assumptions while preserving the app’s generic, chain-agnostic design.
Several internal improvements were delivered to enhance robustness and correctness, including fixes to ECDSA signing for larger transactions, refinements to transaction parsing, and general code quality improvements. These changes help ensure consistent behavior across supported devices and transaction types.
The updated Polkadot Ledger App is already available and can be installed directly from Ledger Live.
