Paseo is the go-to testnet for Polkadot developers—offering a stable, community-driven space to test and refine projects. Zondax ensures seamless support and innovation.

What does innovation mean? For us, it’s about coming up with fresh ideas, teaming up with amazing people, and building solutions that make a real difference for communities. We’ve been part of the Polkadot community since 2018, starting with the creation of its Ledger App and more recently launching the Polkadot Generic App last summer.
Lately, the Zondax team has been working on Paseo. In this blog, we’ll answer the question: What does every developer need to know about Paseo Testnet? We’ll break down what Paseo is, how we’ve contributed to it, and why it’s an essential resource for developers in the Polkadot ecosystem.
Paseo Testnet is a blockchain test network in the Polkadot ecosystem. It’s here to take over from Rococo and provide a great platform for parachain teams and DApp developers to build and test their projects before going live. Paseo is decentralized, community-driven, and stable, making it a reliable testing environment that stays in sync with updates from the Polkadot Fellowship.
Why should developers care about Paseo?
A Collaborative Environment: Paseo encourages active participation and innovation from everyone in the Polkadot ecosystem. It’s designed to be community-driven, making it an inclusive space for developers to test and refine their projects.
Dependable Stability: Paseo offers a stable and reliable environment, which is crucial for testing parachains and applications without interruptions.
Comprehensive Support: We're always here to support the community using or interested in Paseo! You can reach out to us anytime through our Element or Discord channels. Plus, we have a dedicated GitHub repository where you can open issues for questions, documentation requests, suggestions, or anything else you need help with.
Purpose-Built for Application Testing: Paseo is optimized for developers building and refining applications, ensuring their projects are ready for deployment.
Developer-Friendly Tools and Documentation: Paseo comes equipped with the latest tools and clear, detailed documentation to help developers get started and stay productive. Regular updates and community guides ensure the information stays relevant.
Direct Community Engagement: Developers benefit from Paseo’s active engagement with its community through updates, meetings, and feedback sessions. This ensures the testnet aligns with their needs. Want to be part of it? Make sure you join us.
A Path to the Future: Paseo is where new technologies and features are tested before reaching the Polkadot mainnet. It’s a critical step for ensuring seamless integrations and smooth launches.
At Zondax, we’re deeply involved in making Paseo a developer-friendly testnet. Here’s how we contribute:
Streamlining Operations: We manage schedules, organize GitHub workflows, and ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
Technical Support: Our team integrates platforms, automates processes for better insights, and assists with runtime upgrades.
Onboarding New Validators: We simplify the process for new validators, making it easier for them to get started on the testnet.
Creating Developer Resources: From tutorials to clear documentation, we’re dedicated to providing tools that make developers’ lives easier.
Managing the Testnet of the Testnet (ToT): Before new features, tools, or upgrades are introduced to Paseo, they’re tested in the ToT to ensure stability and reliability.
Paseo is a game-changer for developers in the Polkadot ecosystem. It’s more than just a testnet—it’s a collaborative and stable environment designed to help developers bring their projects to life. Paseo is set to remain the go-to testnet for testing, innovating, and building the tools of tomorrow.
If you are a builder in the Polkadot ecosystem, stay tuned for more updates!
